These resources will help you to see and reflect on the lived experiences of the Cambodian people and the important role that celebration and the church can play. They also tell the story of Dara, a Cambodian child who suffered a disability when a landmine exploded in his hand. Across Cambodia, only 29% of children with disabilities complete primary school compared with 70% of children without disability, while only 5% of children with disability complete secondary school compared with 23% of children without disability.

The Arrupe Centre in Battambang Cambodia, helps children with disabilities, such as Dara, access education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Since its beginning, the Arrupe Centre has grown to offer a range of diverse activities including the Outreach Program and youth leadership training. There are currently 17 children living at the Arrupe Centre, being supported to study and create strong futures for themselves and their families. The Arrupe centre is assisted by Catholic Mission Australia and during October, your prayers and fundraising help in providing much needed support for this project.

These resources challenge us to think about the world around us with the principles and values of Catholic Social Teaching in our hearts and minds. By placing ourselves in the shoes of other and keeping in mind these principles, we can discern or understand how we can play our part in making the world a better place for all God's people and creation.
